CROSS HAT FORM SET v3 — REVISION NOT YET PHYSICALLY TESTED
Blocksmith Works · 15 October 2026 · millimeters · print at 100% scale

CONTENTS
Positive Cross STL, matching negative STL, and a Bambu Studio 3MF containing BOTH.
The STL files contain geometry only. The 3MF stores 5 wall loops, 15% gyroid
infill, 5 top layers, 3 bottom layers and 0.2 mm layers. Both objects explicitly
have the same wall/infill settings. Supports are disabled in the template.
This is the supplied Bambu P1S / 0.4 mm nozzle project with retained filament
presets, NOT a universal or Anycubic project. Select your actual printer, nozzle,
material and bed, then review all settings and the complete slice preview.
No automatic Workshop printer setup is applied to this static package.

POSITIVE
56.78 x 100.54 x 73.50 mm overall. Base height 63.50 mm (2.5 inches),
plus 10 mm raised cross. The supplied displayed-2x outline and approximate
chamfered Cross relief are retained. This revision extends the short crossbar
by 6.35 mm total and widens both oval bases by 6.35 mm total for support.
It replaces the v2 listing; historical packages remain unchanged.
Two ROUND underside blind sockets, nominal 19.05 mm (3/4 inch) diameter,
centered at X=0, Y=+/-25 mm. Straight insertion depth is 19.05 mm.
Each socket has a curved, pointed roof rising a further 11.43 mm (total
internal depth 30.48 mm). Roof segments are at least 45 degrees from
horizontal, designed to avoid an unsupported flat ceiling with base down.
This support-free intent still needs slicer and physical confirmation.
The nominal bore has no added dowel clearance: measure your dowels, confirm
printer dimensional accuracy, and test the fit. Do not force an oversized dowel.

NEGATIVE
80.77 x 124.48 x 26.20 mm overall. Foundation thickness 12.70 mm.
Cross cavity depth 13.50 mm for the 10 mm relief plus nominal 3.5 mm felt
allowance. The 3.5 mm clearance is in XY, NOT an exact 3D surface-normal
offset. Compression and shrinkage depend on your felt. Its contact cavity
keeps its v2 nominal clearance. The horizontal crossbar is 6.35 mm longer
(3.175 mm each arm) on both matching pieces. The upper OUTER edge of the
negative has a 2 mm radius to soften felt contact; its inner cavity and a
1 mm surrounding band are unchanged by this rounding. Test scrap felt first.

UNDERSIDE MARKING
Both parts have recessed BlocksmithWorks.com lettering, approximately
2.0 mm high and 0.5 mm deep, clear of the sockets. Inspect readability in
your slice preview. Print with the flat underside on the build plate.

CHECKS AND NEXT TRIAL
Both final solids are closed, consistently wound, connected and have positive
volume. STL and 3MF geometry match at full scale; 3MF declares millimeters.
The long stem, relief height, two sockets and recessed markings are retained.
The horizontal crossbar has been extended by 6.35 mm total in both pieces.
The negative outer felt-contact edge now has a 2 mm radius. The cavity
clearance is retained; the fillet does not round the cavity opening.
Revision v3 has not been physically tested or opened in an installed slicer.
Karl Gansen reports successful felt forming with the previous positive/negative
set and a visibly sharper result; that is not qualification of this revision.
Printer, material, installed slicer/version and exact prior scale are unconfirmed.
No v3 dowel/felt/release/load/heat/steam test has been completed. Check the complete slice preview before printing.
Smooth the forming surface and try scrap felt before using a hat. Material
suitability for your heat/steam process is not established by these files.
Report printer/nozzle, material, slicer/version, settings, scale, measurements,
print/fit/felt results and photos to BlocksmithWorks@gmail.com if you wish.

Blocksmith Works adaptation: earlier filled pendant/underside and added oval
base; supplied form enlarged the displayed outline to 2x, approximated the
chamfered cross, raised the base to 63.5 mm and added a matching female form.
v2 replaced the supplied square sockets with round curved-roof sockets and
added underside website engraving to both parts. v3 adds 6.35 mm total to
the horizontal crossbar in both pieces and rounds the upper outer negative
contact edge to 2 mm. Karl Gansen supplied physical feedback on the previous
set. No creator or tester endorsement of revision v3 implied.
